Ultimate Driving Universe Wiki

TwentyTwoPilots, known on the forums as Alex, nicknamed Twonty, is the owner of the UDU. He has worked on Delaware, and Maryland (except UD: Kent Island) and could possibly be working on border areas of Pennsylvania. He joined ROBLOX in 2008 under the username Alex4897. Before creating the Ultimate Driving Universe, he built traffic signals for the Avanta Car Company places, despite not being off to a popular start.

Overview[]

In 2010, Alex released the Ultimate Driving I (now known as Ultimate Driving I Classic) which would be the start to the popular Ultimate Driving franchise we know today, the first huge wave of success in this franchise would be in June 2010. These maps were a huge success and led to part of Delaware being built. Sometime in 2015, Alex changed his username to TwentyTwoPilots as a parody to Twenty One Pilots.

In late 2016, TwentyTwoPilots was nominated for the 2016 BLOXY Awards, and thanks to tremendous support from the ROBLOX community, he won the awards for Builder of the Year and Developer of the Year.

TwentyTwoPilots created most of the vehicles in the current series, as well as other plugins that people can use to create traffic signals, add weather, and make road curves and ramps. He also designed most of the GUIs used to operate vehicles and scripts for the games. All Ultimate Driving maps also have to be updated when a TTP update is released to ensure consistency across all games.

In October 2019, UD would partner with Gamefam possibly due to numerous developers leaving and TTP being frustrated that other maps would not get done faster, which would lead to UD: Westover Islands getting more updates and other games being left obsolete. Ultimately, this partnership led to Gamefam buying out the game. In addition, TwentyTwoPilots would become the Creative Director of the company. He could decide to resign from Gamefam due to their toxic behavior (possibly even toward him).

The older opening (introduction) screen was designed by him to allow UDU developers to display their signatures.

TwentyTwoPilots has been accused of many things, such as banning players for unworthy reasons (such as criticizing his game and Gamefam), bullying "teenagers" on Twitter, adding bugs to the game (even has been accused of doing it on purpose) and not listening to the community. He has also been accused of leaving the older audience and targeting the younger audience along with Gamefam who could have manipulated him to bully teenagers, not listen to the community and leave the older audience behind. In addition, he also doesn't update other games than Westover in addition to Gamefam. As of November, 29th, 2023, Gamefam is no longer affiliated with UD and hasn't been listed on Gamefam's site which may cause the game to be shut down if TTP can’t hire new developers. However, this is highly unlikely due to the Christmas Update on December, 23rd, 2023. Since then, every map except for the Westover map has not changed yet. However, there has been speculation that it was no longer affiliated with UD as far back as July 2023. This had lead to TTP actually listening to the players such as creating the "South Beach Expansion" with the expansion inspiring TTP to expand Odessa and finish Newark according to Discord. It is likely that the bugs in Odessa will be removed once the expansion is completed. It is likely that TTP regrets partnering with Gamefam since UDU is now disaffiliated with them and they manipulated him into not listening to the players (as he now actually does listen to the players) and they would also seem to intentionally destroy his games even affecting the games to this very day.

Classic Games[]

In 2010, TwentyTwoPilots (Alex4897 at the time) created the original Ultimate Driving I off a version of a major city, with modified free models and his own GUI script. This game became widely popular, leading to a remake of Ultimate Driving I and the release of the original Ultimate Driving II, set in a more rural area. Taking advantage of the Universe function available at the time, Alex's games became a hit, leading to four games in the classic series. However, Ultimate Driving IV was never finished due to the current series and remains as the only evidence of the original Cape Ann. As of today, his games are known to have both rural/urban areas as well as some suburban areas. Most areas are currently rural in the games as of 2022 (though there will be more urban areas in the UD: Delancy Gorge most of the game will still likely be rural).

A revamp of the original UD: II now exists as UD: Odessa, even though the original revamp- UD: Odessa V2 (Westdale/Classic) was released in early 2017. Later, he released a classic version of Delancy Gorge, as version 1 with the original road layout. Also, a revamp of UD: III is planned to replace the current Newark map sometime in the future. UD: IV was revamped and added to the Odessa map in August 2018.

UDU Games[]

As of today, most of TTP's maps are known to have urban/rural areas as well as a few suburban areas, though most areas of the games are known to be rural. However, UD: Delancydrome Speed Complex is the only map by him without an urban area.

Delaware[]

UD: Westover Islands[]

Main Article: UD: Westover Islands

Westover Islands is a game created by TwentyTwoPilots, it is the first game in the current UDU series and the most popular by the number of visits. This game got popular because lots of "new" UD players play this game a lot. Originally, this game was called "Ultimate Driving II". The map is based on Sussex County, Delaware just off the mainland, with a fictional connection to Alan Island (Long Island, NY). The largest city is Westover with most other areas in the game being rural. However, South Beach has been urbanized as of December, 23rd, 2023 with the map being expanded south since then.

UD: Odessa[]

Main Article: UD: Odessa

Odessa is a game created by TwentyTwoPilots, it is the second game in the entire UDU (after UD: Westover Islands). This game (as of now) has the 2nd biggest UD map (after UD: Delancy Gorge). This game was the 3rd most popular UD game (before the revamp), even though it was released as the 2nd game. This game is based off Kent County, Delaware (according to Google Maps). The game also extends north to the Indian River with the Cape Ann extension and towards Harriston (representing New York, NY). The game has since been revamped after the Hub update was completed likely causing the game to become more popular, possibly now being the 2nd most popular UD game, behind only Westover. The game mostly has rural areas with some suburban/urban areas in Odessa and Betts Ferry as well as Cape Ann which is separated from the two latter communities and is just suburban.

UD: Newark[]

Main Article: UD: Newark

Newark is a game created by TwentyTwoPilots, it is the third game in the entire UDU (after UD: Westover Islands, and UD: Odessa). This game has the second biggest city in the UDU, Newark (as of now), after Harriston (New York City for the UDU). This game used to have Gerard Ferry and North Newark (a small subdivision northeast of Newark), but now it is moved to the UD: Delancy Gorge map. This game is currently under remake according to TwentyTwoPilots twitter page, the reason was to make Newark a more decent city by making it closer to its real-life counterpart. This game is based on Newark, Delaware (as you can tell by the name). Newark was the only urban area in the game before it closed down with Gerard Ferry being rural and North Newark being suburban as most areas in the game were rural outside of that city.

UD: Delancy Gorge[]

Main Article: UD: Delancy Gorge

Delancy Gorge is a game created by TwentyTwoPilots, it is the fifth game in the entire UDU (after UD: Westover Islands, UD: Odessa, UD: Newark, and UD: Noyan) and Alex's fourth game. This game takes place in the Appalachian mountains of Delaware (more or less based in Pennsylvania). This UD map was the biggest (before HBBT was added to UD: Westover Islands) but it will be bigger in the revamp. This map is also home to a mountain called "Pomeroy Mountain" which is 1,898 feet tall above sea level. This map also took Gerard Ferry and North Newark which are suburban and rural areas, due to the Newark overhaul. However, both towns exist in both maps as the overhaul is yet to be released. Most of UD: Delancy Gorge is currently rural as of 2022 but will have more suburban areas in the revamp. However, North Newark is suburban.

UD: Harriston Bay Bridge and Tunnel[]

Main Article: UD: Harriston Bay Bridge and Tunnel

Harriston Bay Bridge and Tunnel (HBBT for short), was going to be his fifth game. This game was mostly a big bridge and tunnel, this game takes part in the Harriston Bay and Westover Channel. This game is served by I-76, US 40, and I-80. This game also has 2 islands, one called "Angler Island" and one called "Alan Island", however, it only has a few parts of Alan Island, the rest will be at UD: Harriston (a future game by Alex). This map was added to UD: Westover Islands v3.1.0. (I-76, Angler Island and part of Alan Island) which means that the game won't be created.

UD: Cape Ann[]

Main Article: UD: Cape Ann

Cape Ann was intended to be its own game but part of it, the town of Cape Ann proper was merged with Odessa in August 2018. The northern bank, containing South Harriston will most likely be part of the UD: Delancy Gorge revamp. It won't be added due to it being added with the Odessa game.

See the main article for details.

UD: Harriston[]

Main article: UD: Harriston

UD: Harriston is set to be the largest city in the UDU, based off New York, NY with part of Alan Island (Long Island, NY). This map was originally planned out (and to be released) in 2014 but development has stalled after Alex focused on the more popular games at the time. Harriston is expected to be based off the original Ultimate Driving map as its revamp. The game is yet to be released likely being released in 2025 or 2026 sometime after the UD: Delancy Gorge revamp if it does get released.

A portion of Harriston was playable as part of the closed Cape Ann game.

Maryland[]

UD: Bethany Beach[]

Main article: UD: Bethany Beach

UD: Bethany Beach is the first expected game for the Maryland portion in the UDU, not counting the sliver of the state that exists in Newark. From August 24, 2017 to September 2017, the game was located in a secret place for beta testing called "swagdad" which has closed. The map is expected to be very large according to testers but an official release date has not been determined by the UDU team. The map will likely be urban in Bethany Beach which includes parts of I-195 and rural in most other areas.

UD: Masonsville[]

Main article: UD: Masonsville

UD: Masonsville is a game based on the DC metro area and will likely be urban and suburban. Work hasn't begun on this game, and in fact, it's cancelled. It is completely unknown if this game will ever be built.

Songs Used[]

Alex's favorite music artist is apparently deadmau5. He also used a lot of deadmau5 music each time you enter a game a different song would play songs such as '777' by Deadmau5 And 'There might be coffee' By Deadmau5 and more. And he also used other song that where not made by deadmau5 such as the song 'How Far We've Come' by AJ.Mp3 and more other artists. In the opening screen of a TTP game, an instrumental version of one of the artist's songs would play. This feature was expanded to other developers' games as well, where their favorite song could play while you load the game with their logo. Sadly, this has seemed to stop working in most games. The song currently used in TTP Games is "Bass of Ace" by Shahrooz Raoofi. Back before update v4.4.4, UD games formerly used 'Going to Get Up Remix C' by Mark Nolan.
