Bounty is a gameplay mechanic in the Ultimate Driving games.

Overview[]

Bounty is used in the Ultimate Driving games to track offenses made by players in-game. Offenses include speeding past traffic cameras, running red lights, equipping or firing a gun, or shooting another player. All players have at least 1 Bounty at all times, regardless of offenses.

The higher Bounty a player has, the more of a target they become for Police, who are tasked with ticketing or arresting players with Bounty. Police can see Bounty through a colored aura around each player.

Players in certain teams, such as Police and Firefighter (EMT), have a Bounty limit that restricts the amount of Bounty they can attain. For a majority of teams, this is 100 Bounty; Police have a limit of 50 Bounty.

Bounty can be removed by paying a fee at a police station or by being arrested or ticketed by police. Bounty can be paid off at 2 Bounty and above. Players with Orange and Red Bounty can be arrested, players with Yellow Bounty can only be ticketed, and players with Green Bounty cannot be ticketed or arrested at all.

Arrested players are placed on the Jailed team. These players have had their Bounty reset and are technically at Green Bounty. However, if they attempt to escape, they will immediately gain 500 Bounty.

The bounty system was introduced in 2014 with the release of the original UD: Westover Islands, where the Citizen team was merged with the Criminal team.

Bounty Levels[]

There are four Bounty Levels, organized by color. They are, in ascending order of severity, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red.

Color Image Bounty Range Description Possible Police Interactions Jail Time (minutes)
Green Green Bounty 1–19 Players with Green Bounty cannot be arrested or ticketed by police. At this level, a player has, at most, committed minor speeding offenses, if anything. None 0
Yellow Yellow Bounty 20–199 Players with Yellow Bounty can be ticketed by police. At this level, a player has likely run a red light, committed several speeding offenses, or fled a toll without paying. Around this level, players on Bounty-limited teams will likely be kicked off should they continue accumulating Bounty. Ticket 0
Orange Orange Bounty 200–999 Players with Orange Bounty can be ticketed or arrested by police. At this level, a player has likely committed multiple speeding offenses, run several red lights or tolls, is in possession of a keycard, has escaped prison, or has shot someone and fled. Ticket

Red Red Bounty 1000+ Players with Red Bounty can be arrested or shot by police or other players. At this level, a player has likely committed dozens of traffic infractions, or has shot and killed a player or police officer. Arrest

Offenses[]

Offense Bounty Charged/Received Notes
Equipping gun 0 Temporarily gives the player Red Bounty, regardless of the player's Bounty level.
Speeding 1 (minimum; varies) Tracked by traffic cameras. Fine starts at 5 MPH (8 KM/H) over the limit.

Fine also deducts the player's money. Fine caps at $400.

Failure or refusal to stop at red light 20 Tracked by traffic cameras. Given regardless of speed or distance over the stop line.

Fine also deducts the player's money.

Toll evasion 50 Given if a player attempts to drive through a toll without paying, without the Free Tolls Gamepass, or the wrong way.

Fine also deducts the player's money.

Releasing a prisoner as police 50 Designed to automatically kick the affected player off the Police team. Prisoner will still gain 500 Bounty for escaping.
Shooting armed citizen 50 (starts at 500) Gives 500 Bounty on the first shot, then 50 for every further shot.
Shooting police officer 100 (starts at 500) Gives 500 Bounty on the first shot, then 100 for every further shot.
Failure or refusal to pay ticket 100 Bounty only gained if the player refuses or does not pay a ticketed issued by a police officer with a clipboard within the allotted time limit.
Prison escape 500 Given once a prisoner enters a restricted area or attempts to leave the prison grounds.
Street racing Varies Gained Bounty depends on the race's distance.

Exceptions[]

  • Passengers of a vehicle that has committed a traffic infraction will not be fined.
  • Emergency vehicles and service vehicles equipped with lights and sirens are immune to all traffic fines except street racing and entering tolls the wrong way.
  • Police do not gain Bounty for shooting other players, regardless of what they were doing or how many Bounty they have.
  • Police cannot be ticketed or arrested regardless of Bounty. However, they will still be kicked off the Police team at over 50 Bounty.

Paying Off Bounty[]

Aside from being arrested or ticketed by police, Bounty can only be paid off at police stations. The method required to pay Bounty at a police station differs depending on the age of the game, but it is otherwise the same:

  • For outdated police stations, the button to pay Bounty should be outside at the front door. Click the button and pay Bounty in the UI.
  • For redesigned police stations, the button to pay Bounty should be inside the lobby to the right of the kiosks. Click the button and pay Bounty in the UI.
  • For up-to-date police stations, the button has been replaced by an interaction prompt at roughly the first and second kiosk. Interact with the kiosk and pay Bounty in the UI.

The cost to pay off Bounty is always double the player's amount of Bounty (e.g. the cost to pay off 383 bounty is $766), regardless of whether it is being paid at a police station or through a ticket.

To prevent players from being arrested or shot inside the lobby of the police station, a forcefield will appear around players that are paying off their Bounty. It is against the rules to arrest a player who is paying off their Bounty.

Trivia[]

  • A bounty is a payment or reward of money to locate, capture, or kill a wanted individual, usually a criminal. While players are not paid for arresting or killing players with high Bounty, police are given XP for arresting or ticketing a player with Bounty. No XP is given for killing a player with Red Bounty.
